November Update

So there's been alot that has happened since I last posted. Just as a quick recap:

  • I took over SWICC
  • We recruited a couple people and corps into Alice.
  • I lost my right hand man.
  • I decided to take a vacation from Anoikis space.
  • Right hand man re-joined SWICC with his own corp.
  • I sold Alice to an alliance mate.
  • I left SWICC, making an alt corp of mine the Executor
  • And finally I left DCORR, joining up with some people out in null sec.
Whether or not this chain of events has landed me in the best scenario, who knows; I dont. Im just going with what feels good for now. Im looking to get into hauling for the alliance and perhaps some capital fights. I may even work towards becoming an FC, you never know.

As things go, Ive gotten all moved out of Alice and am setup in our staging system. The most annoying thing to me are cyno alts. Training them, getting them into place, ect. Its annoying. Oh well, things will work themselves out.

So Im back to null sec for now. Maybe, eventually, Ill head back to low. A return to high sec is pretty much never going to happen though =P

Benefits of Theft

So theft happens in a lot of different ways. Thieves steal items, tears, kills; just to name a few. However, how often does it benefit someone else besides the thief? Someone on the side who inadvertently helps the theft along its path; are they also a thief or just an enabler? Well, fair readers, I have the answer for you: The enabler is also a thief. How so, you ask? Glad you asked!

Darkfall: Time to Be a Pirate!

Lately, Ive been farming mobs for prowess and gold. Sometimes solo, mostly in a group of 2 or more clan mates. During conversations, the idea was tossed around for us to get on a boat and go sailing around the world. Everyone agreed and myself with another decided to go half and half on a Wharry; one of the cheapest/smallest ships to sail Agon.

Darkfall: A Rush of Progression

Aiden, Entry 2

As previously posted, I was saved by a small group of fighters. I was invited to their party and we worked together killing the rockbangers for a few more hours. I was eventually invited to join their guild as a part of their mass recruiting experiment. I decided to say yes and attempt to be super social in this game; opposite of my somewhat anti-social behavior in EvE. Its worked out extremely well for the most part.

Logging in for my second evening of play, I pinged comms for any interest in an exploration group. Most people were busy killing, but one person, Phuzzy Logic, piped up and asked for an invite. Meeting up in Sanguine, we decided where we would explore; choosing to go around the main center continent of Agon at the waters edge. And so we went East towards the ocean.

Darkfall: A Shift in Life.

Aiden, Entry 1

At the request of my current tutor, Oliver, I am recording the events up to my encounter with what they call "Rockbangers" and their "Stone Lord"

We lived a bit west of Sandbrook; until the old man spent all the coin on a ship of his own and never came back. I was so young when it happened, we moved into the actual town and people called us "Westbrook's". I don't remember our real name, and Mama passed away before I was old enough to ask.

Luckily, a love of the Sea was passed on to me and I was able to catch a few fish a day to live on. Eventually, I got good enough to catch more than I needed and could sell them. Never made enough to get my own ship though, so I was limited in how much I could snag. Early morning outings, afternoon market excursions.

And that's how life went on for several years. Ships always coming and going from Sandbrook, yet none wanting a recruit as young as myself. "Experienced only", they told me; as if to say people were born with such experience. Wasn't everyone new at some day in their lives? Apparently not.

Back to the Basics

So living out in null sec has been kind of boring to me. Most of the CTAs are called when Im at work, and the ones that do get called when I am home are so late in the evening, Id have to bail 30 minutes in to head to bed for work in the morning. I know, Iknow! These are just excuses to not participate in alliance ops to some people. Except that I want to pvp. So I decided to go back to the basics of what I know can provide that fun pvp for myself.

Long Time Update

Wow! Its been a long, long time since I last posted. Not intended, I just have been lazy and not in the mood to write. However, today, I shall write a small bit of an update.

Invasion!

As some of you may have noticed, I have been rather inactive lately. Real life really kicked me in the balls with 60-70 hour work weeks and it has just now started slowing down enough to the point where I wasnt so beat every day I just showed and went straight to bed soon as I got home. Anyhow, to deal with this, Ive been living in a wormhole away from the light of highsec, the deep space of null and even havent dipped much into the new low sec of faction wars. Wormhole space has been my home for a few months now; and Im really enjoying it.

I havent gone full carebear, as I setup fittings for my partner who has more time than I to go PvP lately and he gets kills with my fittings, so in a way, I get to PvP. Well, in the same way as the industrialist who sold him the ship and mods, right?! Ok, so maybe I have gone a bit carebear, but this bear is a grizzly and I make people all FUBAR'd in their ships. Or they do me, either way, stuff explodes usually. Like this past weekend, for example, but first a small bit of backstory.

Consensual PvP in EvE?

So I was browsing reddit because its a pretty good source of info about anything you can think of. As I was going through /r/EvE, I stumbled across a blog I inconsistantly keep track of, MinerBumping. In that linked post, James315 references Ripard Teg's post about "ganking not being pvp". Except it is, and Id like to toss my opinion on the subject out there as well.

December CSM Minutes

There's a whole 113 pages of stuff in the recently released CSM Minutes. I've just finished reading all of it and as a whole it looks good. Just doing a quick summary for myself as many other bloggers will cover this soon*. I mostly only care about the ship balancing section.

An About Me Post

This post is more for my own self-evaluation than your pleasure, really, but feel free to comment as well, Ive got thick skin!

So Ive been blogging on and off for almost two whole years. I started out blogging about my first forays into PvP combat. Time has seriously flown by, I hadnt realized its been so long! Reading that very first post of mine, I was pretty surprised by myself. I have really grown quite a bit as a pilot since that time, I feel much more knowledgeable about EvE mechanics, ship fittings, and ship statistics. Im far from the knowledge levels of people like Miura Bull, Ashirka, Taurean, Truen1ght, and many, many other pilots in EvE, however, I feel I could go toe-to-toe with a couple of them for several rounds before being knocked out by their sheer skill and knowledge of this game we all play.

Vigilant vs Loki and Cynabal

This isnt a fight that I was in, but I suggested the fitting for the Vigilant. And it performed above and beyond what I expected it could do. Thanks to my buddy Ashirka for taking it out for a spin and testing it =) On a side note, Ashirka is a 2003, mostly industrialist player. His knowledge of EvE is rather vast and Im confident he didnt need my help in fitting the ship. Its just nice he did use it and Im pretty glad it performed!

The story is that they were chasing a Cynabal (who was harassing ratters with his small gang earlier), Ashirka and Dave, in their Vigilant and Thorax. Dave jumped through the gate, Cynabal wasnt on grid but his friend in a Loki was. Dave's Thorax served as a meatshield while Ashirka fought to break the buffer shield tank of the Loki. Once Ash got past that shield regen point, he claims to have shot 2 vollies and popped the Loki. At some point during this, the Cynabal landed on grid to help his Loki friend.

With Dave already dead, he was of no use fighting the Cynabal once the Loki died. Ash was running low into armor, but Gallentian ships have a nice hull buffer. He took advantage of that, overheated his webs to catch the enemy, and the Cynbal pilot exclaimed a surprised "Oh shit" in local. Oh shit, indeed, because with dual 90% webs on you, even your MWD wont be of much help. And when Ash got into Void range, rather quickly actually, the Cynabal's buffer shield tank didnt last long either.

Talking with Ashirka after the fight, he was also surprised at how well his ship held up, especially when the Cynabal landed and he became consigned   that his ship was going to explode and not the enemy. However, he lived, and the entire fight he had not overheated his guns! "Probally a good thing, since you would have burnt your guns out!"; I say because Ashirka never overheats his guns and is forgetful sometimes.

Ah well, he and Dave just got about one billion isk in kills.
